Youth Advisor for the Prevention Team in Upplands Väsby
Are you a stable and relationship-building person who wants to make a difference? We are looking for someone to work in the Prevention Team with youth and parents in Upplands Väsby municipality!
We offer you
- a creative and exciting assignment that includes varied work in collaboration with others to provide early support to youth and parents.
- good opportunities for a challenging and developing job alongside creative colleagues.
About us
The Prevention Team is part of the preventive and treatment unit within social services (IFO), and we work to provide early support and interventions to youth and their parents in the municipality.
We who work in the Prevention Team are four dedicated youth advisors who provide targeted support interventions to youth and their parents. We collaborate with schools, cultural and leisure activities, etc., based on the broad crime prevention work in the municipality. The Prevention Team prioritizes high accessibility for counseling, support, and collaboration with families residing in Upplands Väsby, in accordance with the new social services law.
About the position
As a youth advisor, you will work with the target group of children and youth as well as their parents to offer support and counteract exclusion, substance abuse, and socialization into crime. This means you will conduct Early Detection Conversations with youth and their parents and work with networks that include children and youth through collaboration with parents, schools, leisure activities, police, and other relevant parties, both municipal and external.
As part of the crime prevention work, we hold lectures and workshops for guardians, school staff, and students. Collaboration with guardians is an important part of the work. We offer parental support both individually and in groups. The work also involves some administrative tasks where we document, administer, and organize activities that are part of the work.
We want you to be a trustworthy adult who works within the framework of social services' responsibilities and can identify children and youth who are at risk.
Examples of tasks:
- Work individually with youth and parents to provide early support
- Collaborative work based on SSPF
- Hold continuous parental support groups in ABC Teen throughout the year
- Active collaboration with the municipality's schools, such as lesson participation, Girls Too, MVP, and The Train.
- Lecture and participate in parent meetings
The work primarily takes place during the day, with some evening activities occurring.
Are you the one we are looking for?
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in social work
- Previous experience in social work with youth or families
It is an advantage if you have:
- A valid driver's license (B)
- Training in MI (Motivational Interviewing), MVP, ABC Teen, and other relevant methods
- Experience in giving presentations/workshops for children and adults
As a person, you are secure and stable. You are good at listening and motivating others towards change and well-being. You have a solution-oriented approach and see opportunities instead of obstacles. Above all, you find it easy to create and build relationships. To succeed in this role, you need to have excellent collaboration skills.
The Prevention Team is constantly evolving based on environmental monitoring and the rapidly changing needs of youth, which means you keep yourself updated on trends and tendencies regarding youth's everyday lives. It is also important that you see your colleagues in the team as a strength and are a team player.
We at the social and care office work with everything from adoption issues to end-of-life care. Our operations and organizational culture are characterized by our values regarding participation, competence, trust, and respect. This is the foundation of our work and an approach towards each other and those we serve.
